Pinkpop 2009: May 30 - June 1

David and I went to Pinkpop, a festival in the Netherlands. It's the longest running festival and it was held over a national holiday, so we really didn't have a reason not to go, and I was curious to see just why it's been around for so long. The line-up wasn't great and it was held in a very industrialized area, so the concrete didn't help in creating a festival atmosphere. The crowd was also very tame, so it felt more like a series of outdoor concerts than a proper festival. I guess it's because of fact that it's such an old festival (this was the 40th), so a lot of the people that came when they were young (and fun) were now coming back much older (and with kids).

Still, we managed to have fun. We were on the platform right in front of the screen during Placebo, partying hard. People thought we were crazy, and when we turned around we had thousands of people staring back at us; we were total Rock Stars.

The festival did have some good bands though, including Canadian reps Billy Talent...

And one of the highlights Franz Ferdinand! The shopping was very good at this one though, including a whole new skirt/Maya the Bee t-shirt combo.
